There is so much to do with us this February half-term, and the best part is – it doesn’t matter what the weather is! Completely free to enter and dog-friendly, let us take you on a fascinating journey back in time. The whole family can enjoy discovering Cornwall’s impressive milling history alongside some free family fun, a large café with delicious food, and some shopping to treat yourself.

Below are our top things to do this February half-term…

New free fun quiz!

Enjoy our free kids’ activity sheet packed with a fun quiz on Cornish history and tin milling, plus a colouring in of our Tolugus Tin Mill! Little explorers who complete the quiz and show us their answers will receive a free lolly. All the answers can be uncovered in our free, interactive exhibition — making it a fun activity for all ages!

Dress up as a tin miller!

Once you’ve learnt all about tin milling in our new quiz, why not have some fun getting into character as a Bal Maiden or Tin Miller at the dress-up station in our Tolgus Exhibition? Don’t forget to take a photo and tag us @cornwallgoldofficial

See our new panning for gold station!

We’ve just revamped our panning for gold station by recycling parts of the tin mill to enforce the roof alongside new carpet and interiors to give our customers an even better time panning. So, grab a traditional gold pan and sift through sand to uncover hidden treasures. This hands-on activity is perfect for everyone and offers a fascinating glimpse into the techniques used by millers in the past.

Eat award-winning food

Come and enjoy breakfast, brunch, kid’s food, winter warmers, sandwiches, Cornish cream teas and more in our excellent Cornish Pantry. We offer gluten-free and vegetarian options plus, furry friends are welcome! See the menu here.

Discover our free exhibition

Our huge interactive exhibition is where Cornwall’s rich milling history is brought to life in an exciting way. Discover ingenious machinery, historical artefacts, interactive displays, the history of tin, the people of Tolgus and so much more.

Walk the Tolgus Trail

The Tolgus Trail is 2.2 miles long and is best started at the beautiful Portreath beach where you can walk for an hour to reach Cornwall Gold for a delicious pit stop in the Pantry.

The trail passes through farmland crossing the White River and you can connect with the Coast-to-Coast Trail in Cambrose. The Tolgus Trail is flat and almost completely off-road with just one main road to cross. See more information here.
