Discover Cornish History in a Dog-friendly Environment
Enter Cornwall Gold and enjoy the Tolgus Exhibition where you can learn all about Cornwall’s rich milling history with your dog in tow! We’ve got stories of yesteryear, old mill artefacts, videos and machinery – it’s a fascinating start to your trip.
Walk Around an Ancient Tin Mill
The Tolgus Mill on our site is totally unique because much of the mill remains in its original condition to discover! Weave in and out of the parts of the mill and see the slime pits, shaking tables and more. Dogs are welcome on a lead throughout.
Enjoy Award-winning Food
Well-behaved dogs are allowed inside and outside at the Cornish Pantry. We also sell Cornish doggie ice cream so the entire family, including the dog, can relax and enjoy a treat!
Plus, we supply water bowls and dog treats for free if you order food or drinks. After you’ve finished your food, why not take a walk with your furry friend along the Tolgus Trail which you can access directly from us.
Walk the Tolgus Trail
This 2.2-mile flat, off-road walk will take you along farmland down to the beautiful village of Portreath which has a long narrow harbour that was built to export tin in the 19th century! It’s the perfect place for all ages, and those with dogs, to explore.
Relax at Portreath Beach
Blow away the cobwebs and enjoy a beach walk at Portreath where there is soft sand and plenty to see and do. It’s just at the end of the Tolgus Trail, or a short drive away, and is the perfect place for an ice cream pit-stop!
Please note: Like many of Cornwall’s beaches there is a seasonal dog ban in place at Portreath Beach from the 1st of July to the 31st of August, between 10am and 6pm. Dogs are welcome at all other times.
